To set the global maritime industry on a climate-aligned course and meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, low- and zero-emission vessels need to be the dominant and competitive choice by the end of this decade. With a fuel transition characterized by a large range of fuel options, the ship owners are facing a complex and uncertain decision regarding fuel type for their vessel(s). To better understand this challenge, we need to map key decision criteria and barriers of action related to future ship fuel selection.
The survey "Ship Fuel Selection - Criteria and Barriers" is part of a master thesis at NTNU, Department of Marine Technology, supported by SFI Smart Maritime.
